Xiaomi working on a budget 9.2 inch tablet?

Xiaomi 9.2-inch quad-core tablet spotted on GFX Benchmark. The Chinese OEM may be planning to expand its tablet lineup and is working on a budget 9.2 inch with 1,280 x 720 pixels HD resolution.

GFXBench revealed that the tablet will have a 1.2 GHz quad-core snapdragon processor with 1 GB of RAM. It has 8 GB internal memory and front and rear cameras (resolution unspecified). The benchmark does not reveal any other details of the device. There is no clarity on whether the tablet will run on Android KitKat or Android's latest version Lollypop out of the box. The tablet is listed as Xiaomi 2014811.

Xiaomi already offers a Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet with a 7.9-inch screen and a higher resolution of 1,536 x 2,048 pixels. The tablet is available in 16/64 GB variants coupled with 2GB RAM. It has a Nvidia Tegra K1 2.2 GHz Quad-core processor and is backed by a 6700 mAh battery.

According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Xiaomi is now the third largest smartphone maker. The preliminary reports states that vendors shipped a total of 327.6 million units during the third quarter of 2014 (3Q14), compared with 301.3 million units shipped in 2Q14, resulting in 8.7 percent growth.
