Facebook connects a Billion people in a single day

Facebook has reached a Billion people connected in a single day milestone. On Monday the social networking site reported that more than 1 billion people logged on the social networking site.

Mark Zuckerberg wrote, on Facebook of course, "On [Monday, August 24], 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family." Zuckerberg further stated that he is "so proud" of the global Facebook community. "Our community stands for giving every person a voice, for promoting understanding, and for including everyone in the opportunities of our modern world," he said. "A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values."

Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zukerberg while he was still a Harvard student. The social networking site reached a billion users a month milestone in October 2012 and as on June 30, 2015 it has 1.49 billion monthly active users. Facebook has posted a special video to commemorate the milestone. Check it out.

"We made this video to celebrate all you've done to help our community connect one billion people in a single day. It's an amazing milestone. I hope you enjoy."
