Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen): First look

Motorola has launched the Moto G (3rd Gen) in India on 28th July at Rs 12,999. The latest smartphone brings a range of improvements compared with its predecessor.

1. Design: The new Moto G 2015 has a similar design as the Moto G 2014, but includes a ribbed pattern which improves its looks as well as gives a more comfortable grip. The metallic finish of the device adds a premium look to the budget device.

2. Display: The smartphone has a 5 inch 720 p display with an additional layer of Corning Gorilla Glass for added protection against scratches. The display has good colours as well as decent viewing angles.

3. Water resistant: The new Moto G has water resistant technology which protects the device from accidental spills. The smartphone can withstand immersion in up to 3 feet of fresh water for 30 minutes.

4. Camera: The Motorola Moto G 3rd gen comes with a 13 MP rear camera with a dual-tone flash and a 5 MP front snapper. The company stated that the flash will automatically adjust to offer users natural looking skin tones and consistent vibrant colours.

5. Processor, RAM, Storage: The budget device is available in two variants - 1GB RAM with 8GB ROM and 2GB RAM with 16GB ROM. The smartphone is powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 1.4GHz quad-core processor which should make multitasking and gaming easy. The smartphone also offers expandable memory unlike its predecessors.

6. Battery: Moto G (3rd gen) is packed with a 2470 mAh battery which according to the company provides a mixed usage of up to 24 hours on a single charge.

7. Connectivity: The Moto G 2015 comes with dual SIM support with both sims supporting 4G LTE connectivity. Motorola has also teamed up with mobile operators and is offering attractive 4G data offers with the launch.

8. Unique features: It comes with new gesture features, including the ability to activate the flashlight by simply flicking the wrist twice. Users will also be able to twist their wrist twice to launch the camera app. The new features are borrowed from Motorola's top of the line Moto X range.

The new Moto G (3rd gen) is priced at Rs 11,999 for the 8GB variant (with 1 GB RAM) and Rs 12,999 for the 16 GB variant (with 2 GB RAM) exclusively via ecommerce retailer Flipkart.
