Samsung's new Gear A smartwatch will be round and will
feature a rotating bezel that can be used as a navigation tool. Users will be
able to scroll through apps, notifications and menus through the rotating bezel
similar to the Apple Watch crown. The bezel will also let users zoom in on
content and interact with games.
The Gear A will run on Samsung's proprietary Tizen 2.3.1 OS
and will be powered by a Exynos 3472 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. Samsung has
confirmed that the watch will have a round, 360×360 pixel display. It will have
768 MB of RAM, 4GB of ROM and a 250 mAh battery. It will come with integrated GPS,
heart rate monitor, Barometer and accelerometer sensor as well. The Gear A
smartwatch will also come with inbuilt WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
According to reports the next Samsung Gear A smartwatch will
be unveiled at the next Samsung event along with the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge
Plus at the Samsung Unpacked event on August 13th.
