1. Samsung unveils Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+
Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones at the Samsung Unpacked event. The smartphones boasts of a 5.7 inch display, octa-core processor and Android 5.0. The products compete with Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

2. Uninor gives a Rs 1200 crore deal to Huawei
Uninor has awarded a Rs 1200 crore deal to Huawei, to modenise its 24000 base stations across the country. Uninor is present in 6 circles in the country and has 49 million customers. 

3. Blackberry unveils the Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite at Rs 99,990
Blackberry has unveiled the Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite at Rs 99,990 smartphone in India. The stylish smartphone has graphite-metallic colored elements and has hand-wrapped leather on the back door cover. The smartphone has a 3.5 inch display and a full-QWERTY keypad with specially crafted glass-like keys. It runs BlackBerry 10 operating system.

4. Swipe Elite smartphone with Freedom OS launched at Rs 5,999
Swipe has launched the Elite smartphone with Freedom OS for Rs 5,999 exclusively via Flipkart. the device will be available from August 19. It runs Android Lollipop 5.0 OS based Swipe's proprietary Freedom OS. The smartphone has a 5-inch HD display and a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM.

5. Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime unvieled
Xiaomi has unvieled the Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime smartphone in China along with the company's latest MIUI7 OS. The smartphones are expected  to be launched in India on Aug 19 event in Delhi. 

6. Twitter ends 140 character limit in DM's
Twitter competes with WhatsApp ends the 140 character limit in direct messages. The direct messages facility was started by the company last year and allows users to send messages and inspire conversations around news, events, etc.   

7. Facebook users vulnerable to hack
Over 1.4 Billion Facebook users are vulnerable to hacking if they have listed their mobile phones ion the website. According to reports, if someone searches with a mobile number in Facebook's search bar, it provides the detailed information and location, in spite of the privacy settings.

8. Save the Internet 
The Indian government has given a deadline of 15 Aug, for users to submit their views on the issue of net neutrality. Users can submit comments on net neutrality by logging on to MyGov.in website.

9. Lenovo Zuk showcases smartphone with transparent display
Lenovo Zuk unveiled a smartphone prototype in an event in China along with  the Zuk Z1. The showcased smartphone prototype has a bezel-less frame on a transparent glass-like display. There is no information about when the smartphone will be launched globally. 

10. Yahoo unviels LineNext messaging app
Yahoo has iintroduced a new messaging app in LiveText format. The messaging app has been released in limited markets last month which included, US, Hong Kong etc. It is now available for iOS and Android application globally.
