1. Micromax Canvas Selfie 2, Canvas Selfie 3 smartphones unveiled
Micromax has unveiled two new selfie centric smartphones in India called the Canvas Selfie 2 and Canvas Selfie 3. The smartphones have 5 MP and 8 MP front cameras respectively and will be available in India by Month end.

2. Xiaomi claims over 800,000 Redmi Note 2 smartphone sold in 12 hours 
Xiaomi has announced that it has sold a record 800,000 Redmi Note 2 smartphones in 12 hours during the first flash sale in China on 16 Aug. This is a new record of smartphone sales for the Chinese company. The second flash sale of the Redmi Note 2 is scheduled for August 24.

3. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 dual-SIM model up for pre-orders
Reportedly a dual SIM variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is up for pre-order in the Philippines. The company had unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 at the Samsung Unpacked event last week. Now the Dual-SIM variant has made in appearance and is expected to hit other global markets soon. 

4. Meizu to launch its brand on Aug 26 in India
Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has sent out press invites for an event in New Delhi on August 26 where the company is expected to announce its flasgship Meizu MX5 smartphone. The device boasts of a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, octa-core Mediatek SoC with 3GB of RAM and a 20MP rear camera.

5. Images of Google's next Nexus smartphone leaked online
Rumors of Google's next Nexus device have been making the rounds for a while, now Images of a new smartphone have surfaced online which shows the back of  the device with the familiar nexus branding and LG logo. The backplate is white and comes with the "Nexus" branding and also shows a large lens and flash. According to reports Google will release its Next Nexus device in the fall.

6. Android 5.1 based iBerry Auxus Prime P8000 to launch in India soon
China based Elephone will be launching its next 4G smartphone dubbed Auxus Prime P8000 in India in partnership with iberry. The smartphone will be exclusively available via ecommerce site Snapdeal by end of this month. It boasts of a 5.5-inch full-HD display with a 178-degree viewing angle, Android 5.1 Lollipop and dual-SIM with dual standby support. 

7. Lenovo to launch budget A2010 4G smartphone in India
Lenovo had unveiled the A2010 4G smartphone in Vietnam earlier this month, now the smartphone is making way to India. According to reports the device will be priced below Rs 5000 making it one of the cheapest 4G devices in the country. The smartphone boasts of a 4.5 inch display, quad-core processor and Android 5.1.

8. Google Android M stands for Marshmallow!
Google has unveiled the Android M statue finally and has revealed that the new operating system is dubbed Marshmallow. The updated OS was unveiled at the Google I/O conference and brings improvements like an updated user interface, Android Pay support, and much more.

9. Garbage bin that rewards users with free WiFi
2 commerce graduates have invented a new WiFi trash bin that gives free Wi-Fi to people in exchange for cleaner surroundings. A founder member Prateek Agarwal stated, “When somebody dumps trash into a dustbin the bin flashes a unique code, which can be used to gain access to free WiFi, 

10. Free WiFi service launched at Hazratganj, Lucknow
A free Wi-Fi service was launched by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Hazratganj, Luknow during the ‘Ganjing Carnival’. The new service allows people to use WiFi Internet service for free for 20 minutes each day.
