5.5 inch Micromax Canvas Mega, Canvas Mega 4G Phablets launched in India


The home grown brand, Micromax has introduced its two smartphones – Canvas Mega and Canvas Mega 4G, in India, especially suited for the Indian customers. While Canvas Mega is priced at Rs 7,999 , Mega 4G will be available for Rs 10,999 respectively. As the nomenclature “Mega” suggests, both the smartphones sport a phablet sized screen of 5.5 inches. Canvas Mega was listed on the company website last month and went on sale through a third party online retailer but no specific dates are known for the sale of Mega 4G.

Talking about the specs, Canvas Mega (E353) flaunts a 5.5” (720X1280P) HD IPS display and comes with corning gorilla glass 3 protection. It measures 154x78.7x8.9 mm and will be available in black color. The phablet houses a 1.4 GHz octa core processor with 1 GB RAM and internal storage of 8 GB, expandable up to 32 GB via micro SD card. It backs a 2820 mAh battery which delivers talk time up to 10 hrs and standby of 600 hrs.  Dual SIM slots, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio, micro USB v2 are the connectivity options.

Canvas Mega 4G (Q417), as the name suggests is 4G and compatible with Indian LTE network. It also boasts of a 5.5” HD IPS display and entrails a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and MediaTek MT6735 chipset paired with 3GB RAM and 16 GB ROM. The internal storage is expandable up to 32 GB using microSD card. It is a dual SIM phone that accepts 2 micro SIM’s. The phone packs a 2500 mAh battery and will be available in golden color.  Other connectivity options include 2G, 3G, Bluetooth and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n.

Both the variants have android 5.1 lollipop Operating Systems and sport a 13 MP rear camera, with LED flash and 5 MP front cameras.

Canvas Mega and Canvas Mega 4G are efforts to woo the buyers who want productivity with entertainment. They are majorly targeting young consumers who are exclusively streaming videos at high speed. Hence, both the phablets are bold and fearless innovations especially designed for Indian markets.
