Apple iPhone 5s now available for Rs 24,999 in India, lowest globally

Apple has cut down the price of its best-selling iPhone in India, iPhone5s, by about 43%, bringing it down from Rs 44,500 in September to current price of Rs 24,999. This is the third price cut of the phone in India, in the past three months, and the price drop was spotted at the online seller Flipkart and Infibeam. This makes the price of iPhone 5s the lowest globally, instead of the higher taxes and depreciating value of rupee making Indian market the costliest for apple products.

Though Apple isn’t a major player of phones in India, accounting for only 1% of the market share, iPhone 5s alone contributed for almost half of the iPhone sales in the country.

India is expected to become one of the next major battlegrounds for smartphones as China is also showing signs of saturation and the price cuts are a part of the marketing strategy to establish iPhone 5s in the mid-range segment. Reports are flooding the internet about the launch of a new iPhone early next year with upgraded versions like Apple pay.
