Soon you will have a Made in India Apple iPhone SE!

Apple which owns a 62% stake in the premium smartphone market in India will begin manufacturing its iPhones in the country.

According to reports the Cupertino giant has set up a production facility in Bangalore in partnership with Taiwanese company Winstron and will start manufacturing the iPhone SE there from April. The Made in India iPhone SE is expected to cost lower, as it will not incur import duties, which may further increase Apple’s market share in the Indian smartphone market.

Apple Inc has been negotiating with the Indian government for subsidies and tax breaks for manufacturing phones in India. However, the government which already offers incentives for technology companies to make in India have been a little reluctant in giving added benefits to one company.

Currently, Samsung leads in the Indian smartphone market, followed by Chinese Vendors including Lenovo, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo. Due to demonetization, all the Indian smartphone makers were affected which lead a decline in their smartphone market share.
